How to calculate a running total
A running total shows how a numeric value builds from one row to the next. Paste your table or import a worksheet, choose the numeric column, and analyze the data. dotXLS previews the cumulative values before you add the new Running Total column, so the original row order stays unchanged.

This is useful when you need to follow cumulative sales, expenses, payments, quantities, or other values in their existing sequence. A normal total gives one final sum; a running total keeps a cumulative value beside every row, making it easier to see how the total develops through the worksheet.
